Roberd D Anderson

Robert d Anderson is n Australian photographer who now lives in London. Within his numerous works in his archive, a series of photos named London light trial is included since February 2013. 

For capturing the pictures of the series he was wandering all over London with the intention of shooting the motion of the light of the cars and buses. In order to achieve the light trails he was looking for places with lots of traffic and moving lights with a nice background. Hence, once he spotted the right places he placed his tripod and waited for the right moment to click. Additionally, he set the shutter speed from 10 to 25 sec, f stop between f13 to f22 and with ISO 200.

This series was the first attempt of Robert d Anderson, however his choices of places and camera settings resulted to interesting and well quality photographs. More specifically, a nice photograph is that of the moving bus in front of the Big Ben. The upper and the lower lights gave a more interesting approach in the night view of the historical building and showed the combination of the pass of time and the stability of the historical buildings through time. By doing this he also added another dimension an gave a more unrealistic view of the image.

In another picture of his, he captured the moving cars in the Westminster Bridge. Again he achieved to marry the historical place with the development of time. The moving lights of the cars might well represent the moving time and even if he did not intent to give this impression, me as a viewer I have those thoughts. By, capturing a historical place in such a nice and different way his not only modernize and gives life to the theme but also shows the beauty of the architecture. 

He did not provided many photographs from different places, nevertheless, he provided different points of views of the same places. This was due to the fact that he seeks to capture the traffic lights and as the night passes there no many places that those elements are met. His work may be considered as inspirational and it promotes the beauty and the history of London. This kind of photography may well be use for galleries as well as advertising.

Generally he has not produced many photographs for this subject however; his work inspired me to do the same thing in Manchester. Capturing the moving lights of the traffic lights of Manchester is a subject suitable not only for galleries in Manchester but also internationally as it promotes the city.

 Moreover, it could also represent the subject of our group.  As a group we had to prepare photographs with the theme of time and movement and hence we concluded that capturing this king of subject as Mr. Robert, would fit as well as represent our theme.
